Well Millie gave us a lesson on the joys of parenting yesterday! At a little after 7a.m. Millie woke up from her princess pillow in the living room and started running a circles. She was running into the couch and the chair and finally crashed into the glass tv stand. I got up from the couch and ran over to her to find her seizing. I tried to comfort her and thought she came out of it, but she went back into another seizure moments later. After talking to my Mom and calling Derek, we finally decided that she needed medical help. She had already had 4 seizures at home and as I drove her to the vet she had 4 more seizures in the 10 minute car ride over. By time I brought her inside, she was in one constant seizure that the doctor couldn't stop. Our poor baby was in a state of seizure for the next 45 minutes! They pushed a lot of drugs into her little body! They said a normal dog her size only needs 1-2 grams of the medicine to stop a seizure and she gave Millie 15grams. Finally Millie slowed down and went into a catatonic state - which was good. It gave her poor little body a rest. We left her around 10 a.m. to rest and be monitored by the doctors. Derek and I were just beside ourselves with worry! She's our little baby!
We picked her up at 5pm and were told to transfer her to the ER vet across town where she could be watched all night. The ER vet was so impressed with Millie that she told us we could take her home where she'd be more comfortable. We were so happy! She was pretty normal at home except she acted a little drunk from the drugs she had that day. She ended up having an upset tummy and having a few accidents, but all in all she was a good dog. We kept her in our room all night and Derek took her outside every couple of hours. We just got back from the vet this morning. They took Millie's IV portal out and said she looked good. They said she probably has epilepsy and will be on medication every 12 hours for the rest of her life. We have to try to keep her relaxed and calm all weekend - they obviously don't know Millie and how hard that will be!!
We are so happy Millie Moo is all better. She gave us a scare, but I think she planned it. She just wanted us to know what it was like to be a parents!!! What a day, but we are so glad that our Millie still gets to meet Baby Miller in July!

AH! Poor Millie. That is crazy. What do they think caused it to just happen now? :( At least they know what it is and can treat it. Glad she is okay!!!!!
